Out of the coffin!

I have good news! I will be removing
'Gravedust and Rudy' from all my websites.
"How is that good news?" you may ask. I can't tell you yet,
it's a secret. Just keep your fingers crossed for GD and Rudy,
they need your karma now more than ever.
I'll let you know what's up as soon as I can.

Gravedust may find life after all.

The dead will always rise again!

Despite some kind of ingrained, self-destructive streak, I've
managed to get myself back online again and seem to be making
some kind of attempt at being a semi-useful human. Whether
or not the society I find myself in deems 'comic artists' as 'useful'
is another matter altogether. I still feel like trying anyway

It's good to be online again.

Gravedust and Rudy in living (dead) color

This illustration marks a turning point in both my life and the future of Gravedust and Rudy. I will never forget where and when I drew this, never. I'd convinced myself I never wanted to draw these two again. Now I think otherwise. It's time to give it one more shot. I really don't know where any of this will go. I hope you are as curious as I am. I can only say it's time to get started.

Gravedust and Rudy will be sort of a 'stream of consciousness' strip, no plans and no boundaries. Hopefully I can make it interesting and unique. I'll try to make the reader expect the unexpected. It's my intention to update this comicblog at least once a week. If things get redundant, please let me know.

I better quit typing and get busy...

See you in the cemetery!

Gravedust in the park

Poor Gravedust, he's all alone in a world not made for skeletons.

This illustration of Gravedust has more personal meaning to it then I care to let on. It was a turning point for me, at least as far as this character was concerned. When I finished this illo, I wasn't sure I ever wanted to draw him again, I was getting tired of skulls.

Gravedust and Rudy find a bike

Our heroes find an abandoned bike near the forgotten cemetery and off they go!

Rudy and Abe

Long before Rudy ever met Gravedust, his best friend was an owl named Abraham. The first appearance of Rudy was in a short strip I did to pitch to the local newspaper. The paper was considering local comics at the time. Of course, the money for the project never transpired and the paper dropped the idea. I was never really happy with this cartoon anyway but, I was in a hurry and wanted a shot at getting it in. I had intended it to be sort of a political strip, maybe along the lines of Pogo. This was the one out of five sample strips that got inked.

Rudy

Rudy arrived in my sketchbook one night, quite by accident. I wasn't thinking about anything when I drew him. This was the only thing I saved out of that sketchbook. I guess he always made me smile. He's more developed I think then Gravedust, I even sort of have a voice style for him. Rudy is a nut, he's the counter-balance to Gravedust, who can be moody and sullen at times. Rudy's a black ball of fuzzy energy. Curious and innocent, honest and unjudgemental.
